I asked my two boys, Reese (13) and Parker (10), what they wanted to give their mom this Mother’s Day. They grinned slightly, looked out of the corners of their eyes at each other, and replied in unison, “A dedication to mom that you can post on your blog.” They had obviously been waiting for me to ask.

“Interesting idea,” I replied, “What do you have in mind?”

“We’ll show you,” they muttered, as they ran up the stairs and into their bedroom. Thirty minutes later they presented me with the following:

Dedicated to our awesome mother for:

Making us dinner
Driving us to soccer practice
Sitting pool side during swim lessons
Reading to us every night
Holding us when we wake up startled at night
Making sure we have comfortable shoes to wear
Pushing us on the merry-go-round at the park
Hugging us even if we don’t wish it
Keeping her cool in tough situations
Going grocery shopping
Cleaning the bathroom
Taking us to the library
Counseling us on girls
Being lovable
Loving us
And for just being our mom
